1966/1967 L79 Novas Pair in Cow Field

Barn Find Posted on October 28, 2015

When looking for one car which leads to another, well in this case a Pair. These are the Pair of L79 novas we purchased the same day as the 69 Dodge Daytona. When we originaly went up to look at the LS6 Chevelle, the same guy owned this cow field full of cars, of which these two were sitting. This same guy is the one who put us onto the Dodge Daytona, so you can say for sure it was a very promising and perductive day. But here on the back side of this cow field, off a rolling hill, where not a single person could ever see them from the road was a Field full of old cars. These cars ranged from Challengers to mustangs to camaros and then these two Novas sitting side by side. THe black on Black car which is ruffer then a night in county jail with a hangover, is in fact a Numbers matching L79 4 Speed car that was originally Blue on Black. THe Primer Gray car was a local drag car that was originally a L79 car bought new at the local Chevy Dealership, but was only purchased for one reason only, Drag Racing. This car only showed 600 original miles, and eventually was raced with a 427 Tunnel Ram and 2x4 Barrel Carbs and a 4 Speed. When we purchased the car, the guy was in the middle of taking out the 1970 Model Dana 60 Rearend to save, but we talked him into letting us have it to go back under the car. A true time capsel from racing in the 60s, this car featured no back seat, only two original front buckets that had original Boomer seat belts still attached, Sparkling metal flex steering wheel, vintage Sun Tach, Vintage wheels and Slicks, and Monster 4 inch wide Fender Flares. In the trunk of the car was still the original battery box from the 60s, that they used, and a Pair of Lead Weights mounted behind the wheel tubs on both sides for better traction. Certainly brought back old memories for a lot of older racers that looked at the car, about the way things were done back then.
