1963 Ford 300 Factory R Code 427 2x4 Car. This car is one we stumbled onto when we was actualy told about another car that the gentleman had in his collection. We went to look at that car but ended up spending hours looking at all of his cars, both in a run down dealership building, inside a Scape Yard Building and also the classic cars in the scape yard as well, to see if it was possible to save any of those as well. This car, just as the pictures show was hidden away in one part of the scrape yard building that housed the aluminum cans. Tucked away for the better part of 15 years, this was one of fifty built by Ford for the purpose of going drag racing. But from our understanding when they sent these cars to the dealerships they sent a pamplet in the glove box with then for the dealerships to call a Fiberglass company out of Atlanta Ga area to buy the lightweight parts to go on the cars for racing. And when only a couple dealerships did this, they quite making the R code version in the 300 and started building the Lightweight Galaxie Mid Year 63 and installing the lightweight parts themselves for Racing. This car is one of only about a half dozen still known to exist, and is the earliest known vin number to exist, plus the only car existing to have been ordered with 4.10 gears for racing. This car is a prime example of when you get invited to look at one car, you go and look at all the cars, because their may be one that interest you more just around the corner.
